Recently bought a new 4runner. In the process of looking for mods and camping gear I knew I wanted an awning. And seeing as my sleeping set up is in the 4runner I wanted a way to have extra space and functionality. I stumbled across this product while going down the Amazon rabbit hole. This seemed to fit my needs perfectly. An awning with a removable and completely detached “room”. I opted for the larger awning with floorless bottom. My thought was that I could also use this room to have plenty of room and privacy to change and shower in. Hence why I opted for the one without the floor. Perfect for showers.Well finally took her camping this weekend and here’s my first impressions. 1- it rained a lot the first night. So this thing can withstand the rain pretty good. Definitely helps the detachable room has its own ceiling so it was double protected with the awning. Water did puddle but nothing we couldn’t push off (I was also parked on a slight incline so couldn’t put poles too far down or we’d lose headroom) 2- it was super windy the next day so this next part is a slight con on this setup. Since it has no floor, the “walls” blow in and out easily. So I actually had to poke a tiny hole at the bottom to pop a steak through to keep it from blowingt around too much. So I wish the manufacturers would do at least 2 holes on each side wall of loops to secure steaks and tie downs. 3-this did exactly what I needed it too. I was afraid I got a too big awning but once we were huddled up under there away from the rain I was glad we had plenty of room. The room itself is a pain to put up and away by yourself but it’s doable. Just takes time and patience. The awning by itself is great.First impressions overall - great little setup. If you’re on a budget and a weekend overlander/camper I’d differentially give this a go.Idk where to get started.... I purchased this last year and got to use it a couple times before it got too cold. From my limited experience I do not have faith in its ability to hold up for too long. First off, the tabs to hold down the room are on the inside versus the outside where they should be. And they are a few inches up which makes no sense to stake it down properly. Second, the stitching is already wearing in parts. I've barely used this. I purchased the 6'×8' which is no longer available for purchase and I am wondering if they discontinued and sold me an old model that was never fully field tested. I wish I could get my money back. Idk if I got a "lemon" but either way for the price its ridiculous not to double check the product before shipping. I'm highly disappointed and stuck with an item I would currently have no reason to recommend. You can buy a better item for roughly the same price which disqualifies this as a cheap alternative for it's value.Purchased this awning and room to attach to my hiker trailer. Looked at several options ranging from $500 to $1500. I decided with this brand cause they offered a larger canopy and room option w the 8’x10’. Arrived within a week. Was able to communicate w company direct through Amazon. Followed the shipping as it made its journey. Opened it up upon arrival. High quality material. Seems very well made. Will add to review in Feb 2022 once I pick up my new Hiker Teailer and mount this awning. Don’t pay more when this appears to be high quality and budget friendly. RSI’ve only set up the product on the driveway. Great fit and works well with my teardrop trailer. I have the 6.5’X10’, the only recommendation, is to have an extra set of adjustable poles to support the awning in the middle of the 10’ supports. As this was a Christmas gift this was the first time my grandchildren were able to use it. Small problem it came with no poles or straps. Now what do we do. Very upset over this as it was not a cheap item to purchaseI had to make some modifications to the tent fabric to suit my purpose, I wish the fabric were a little thicker but it seems like it should work good.I was also able to mount directly to my trailer without using the L brackets. Just drilled though and bolted it with longer bolts.
