I see a lot of reviews saying the birds aren't attracted to these cakes. I've been using them since November '21, and the birds regularly flock to them. Downy and red bellied woodpeckers, titmice, yellow finch, chickadees, nuthatch, purple finch, goldfinch, and even an occasional wren or robin have come to dine. The cakes are gone in a couple of days.I have had 2 pretty fresh, full cakes disappear, finding the cage dangling open. Now I sprinkle cayenne pepper on them (which only works as long as it's on the surface of the cake) to deter squirrels, and wire the cage shut. I guess squirrels looking for an easy meal are always a problem at any bird feeder. ?The birds in PA seem to really like eating these. I'd recommend 'em.I am only giving this 4 stars because these suet cakes melt away much faster than the last branded suet that I bought. I liked that these came in bulk quantity, but they melt so fast I’ve already gone through all but the last two cakes. I still see the birds are loving the suet when it’s out there and hasn’t melted away, but if it’s a hot day or humid, the cakes last maybe 3 days outside. I am going back to the other suet I had bought before since it holds up better in the Georgia heat/humidity but this is a decent product if you don’t mind it melting so quick.I have a suet feeder near the house. I mostly get smaller birds -- chickadees, finches, sparrows and the like. I get some of the bigger birds and today I saw a mother cardinal feeding suet to a fledging. They all seem to like suet.been getting a lot more activity at the feeders with these. the only downside is you have to make sure you store it in a cool area. i first had them in my closet and when i went to open them they were nearly meltedAlthough I have not personally tasted them, the birds must think they taste great. They flock to it the second we put one out! The cost is comparable to the store but it is much more convenient to have them delivered to your front doorVery hard for me to find the NO Melt Suet in my area, and under $2 is impossible. But this fits both criteria and the birds love it. And it really is NO Melt which is really appreciated in the Arizona heat. I hate cleaning up suet messes but love to feed the birds.HEATH'S Bird Blend is tops! While I can't comment on "taste," its packaging in a plastic one-serve saucer fits perfectly into most dispensers and there's no messy fingering like other brands.Easy to install in feeder. Birds love it but squirrels do too. Solved that problem another way.Good size. Birds love it. Only complaint is that the packs have an 'easy open' tab to make it more convenient for opening and placing in suet cage. However, it is anything but 'easy open'. The amount of fiddling necessary is quite frustrating. It's annoying enough to possibly make me purchase the suet packs elsewhere.
