I wouldn't recommend this feeder for a location that isn't covered, because the roof is barely larger than the seed well. But I have it on my porch, and I love it there. I have seen everything from Carolina wrens to blue jays eating. Most birds only stay long enough to grab a seed, since there really aren't perches they can use to crack open the (sunflower) seeds, but they then fly to the nearby porch railing or trees. But I love the ability to see the birds so clearly -- a great concept! The wishing well doesn't appear very clearly since some seeds get trapped in between the platform and the top lip, keeping it from coming all the way up when nearly empty, but that's no big deal. I can still tell I need to refill. Overall, I am very pleased, and this is definitely a different feeder than the usual!Too dumpable by animalsI so far like the bird feeder. FYI - Not Squirrel Proof at allWe love this bird feeder. At our place we have a bunch of birds (different kinds) and wanted something that would allow us to watch the birds better. This bird feeder is nicely made, easy to wash, and holds up well. The birds love it and we are seeing birds that we haven't seen before. We saw the same one at the store and it was more expensive there. We bought this one for around $16, and we are so glad we bought it. When the bird feeder is empty there is a piece on the bottom (inside) that essentially shows you it's empty. I would recommend this product! It is easy to fill and holds a nice quantity of food. Birds and squirrels like it. Sturdy. Doesn't tip or wobble.Great productThis is by far, the best bird feeder on the market! It attracts all of the birds in my area, especially the cardinals. It holds 5 pounds of bird seed, so I have to refill it only once a week or so. It's a well-made plastic, rather than wood, so I don't have to worry about it rotting out from the constant rain lately. Buying this bird feeder was a great decision and complements my new house.Love the concept. The only problem is...it still gets damp or wet depending on the weather so you may end up throwing more out in unexpected rains. It works great for larger birds to have room to stoop and that's why I bought this one. Love the look as well. The picture says it all, every kind of bird (except Orioles who prefer grape jelly and hummingbirds, of course) loves this feeder, filled with sunflower seeds, and we see them all. They are able to sit well, no matter the size. We even had a woodpecker trying to peck the faux wood. Love so much that we have one as a gift.
